How do you go from a bare room to a beautifully styled dining area in your brand new home?
We’ve been working with Beverley-based Interior Designer, Holly, from @ardentdesignuk to show you how.
Here are Holly’s recommendations for turning your blank canvas into a beautiful and sociable dining area…

1. Start with a soft natural colour palette
Try a combination of warm whites, soft greys, beige, and taupe for your walls, cabinets, and countertops. You can add subtle variation through textures, such as matte vs. glossy finishes.
2. Incorporate Natural Materials
Natural elements bring warmth and texture, balancing the coolness of neutral tones. Opt for wooden accents like a butcher block countertop, oak shelves, and woven wicker baskets.
3. Setting the table
Create a beautiful tablescape with elegant dinnerware, fresh flowers, candles, linen napkins, and thoughtfully arranged glassware.
4. Keep it Minimal
A minimalist approach helps a neutral kitchen feel peaceful and spacious. Stick to items that contribute to the aesthetic. Think: a few well-placed cookbooks, matching glass jars, or decorative trays.
5. Add greenery and earthy accessories
Use fresh plants, coloured glass and stylish dishware in muted tones (sage, soft blues, or terracotta). Keep it minimal to preserve the calm atmosphere.
