Press Statement: Seeing a Big Increase in Demand, for New Homes!

Peter Ward, Managing Director of Peter Ward Homes is seeing a big increase in demand, for new homes “Currently we have four sites under construction in East Yorkshire.

Crown Park at Skirlaugh has 87 plots, three and four bed homes with prices from £155,000. The third site is Whin Croft at Goole, a mixed site with 50 homes being built and prices from £127,000. Finally at Paradise Farm in Woodmansey we have a development of 44 homes. From 2018 we have brand new sites in the pipeline that will see us building hundreds of new homes, if all our plans go to order..”

“Our sales team tell me there is plenty of demand for new homes and we are doing our best to help new and existing customers find the properties they want. Many of them have chosen the East Riding because of its access to the main routes into the towns and cities in the region and beyond. It offers a rural lifestyle, a heritage coast that is second to none and market towns that are the envy of others. And we are talking about drive times measured in minutes not hours.”

“Regional inward investment has also led to increased demand from people living outside the region, who are genuinely shocked at what they can afford when they move to Hull and East Yorkshire”

“The present government have realised that there are not enough new homes being built. Incentives such as Help to Buy have been successful in helping purchasers. However the sheer time it takes to deal with all the necessary consents means not enough new homes are being made available .”

“I do believe that the parents and grandparents of younger adults need to realise that their children and grandchildren have a right to live in their own homes and not complain when developers are seeking planning permission on new, allocated sites. As the population ages we need more new homes to satisfy this need. We all need to work together to ensure the East Riding gets the sort of new housebuilding that it needs and deserves”
